Our Story

Urban Ice Botanicals was founded over 20 years ago by Kelly Dunn, who co-founded the American Kratom Association and produced A Leaf of Faith – the documentary credited with helping keep kratom legal in the United States. Kelly funded the initial University of Florida kratom research by Dr. Chris McCurdy, work that later received a $3.5 million federal grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and produced 190+ published studies.

In 2016, filmmaker Chris Bell,  who made A Leaf of Faith with Kelly’s support – appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience (#876) to discuss kratom. The response crashed our website with orders. Nearly a decade later, that same commitment to quality, transparency, and advocacy is why every Urban Ice Botanicals product is independently lab tested, AKA cGMP compliant, and backed by
the deepest roots in the American kratom industry.
